Day 5: Christmas day—on the road to Bryce Canyon National Park. This bridge crosses the Colorado River at Marble Canyon, north-east of the Grand Canyon and down river from the Glen Canyon Dam. It's the only bridge for miles around. I wasn't waiting for the traffic to clear to get this shot—there was simply no traffic. This road (U.S. 89A) leads to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, which is closed in winter, so traffic was light. U.S. 89 would have been an easier route to Bryce Canyon, but I wanted to see the nearby Cliff Dweller's Lodge where we would be staying the following evening.
