Day 5: Christmas morning at the Grand Canyon. Same view as the
previous, but
taken with a telephoto lens. I converted this to sepia just
for a change of pace. I like it.
This shot was taken on the West Rim Trail, which is closed to private vehicles
except in the winter. We were able to drive through the park for hours (we
were in the park before dawn), stopping at every scenic point that got our
attention. There was always a parking spot nearby and never a crowd or a
need to fight for elbow room. Given the great weather we had, winter is a
perfect time to see many of the places we visited because of the scarcity of
tourists and automobile traffic.
