Gaucho riding exhibit, Estancia Santa Susana. In the old days, the large estancias were worked by the fabled gauchos. Some of the estancias have become tourist attractions. The day usually includes a large asado (barbeque) with lots of beef and other meats, drinking, dancing, a tango and folk-dance demonstration and a riding exhibition.
The riding exhibition at Estancia Santa Susana is composed of riders at full gallop who attempt to put a miniature saber through a small ring suspended from an overhead beam, just accomplished in the photo above. It's not too easy, I suppose. Afterward, guests are allowed to ride the horses. |
