Lampshade

Although I was raised in Amarillo, I was born in Perryton, Texas. Perryton is situated in a rather bleak place on the planet, yet it has a stark, poignant beauty.

This lamp was another garage sale find which I sprayed silver and then splashed the shade with all the colors of the Perryton plains.

The table is one of those mispriced Target deals. The table is painted a sort of khaki green color and embellished with tree wrap from Home Depot and some wooden stars that I painted silver.

The doily is from a local Dollar Store. It’s the color of muslin. I hated doilies for most of my life because my grandmother used to waste my days teaching me how to crochet them. Only recently have I found them somewhat charming, as they do feminize what is otherwise a pretty stark, almost sterile area.
