010-Pilgrimage-shell

Medieval pilgrims took the scallop shell as the symbol of their journey, and pilgrims were identified as such by the scallop shells, or representations of those shells, that they wore on their garments. Here, the scallop shape is cut into an array of metal sculptures (next slide) representing pilgrims--look for the cutouts . The view is back towards Pamplona.
