Paula and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary (October 22) at the home of Katharine Anderson and Bill Hurd on Cape Cod. Katharine is a friend from the Boston Ballet Company. On the left, you see Paula and me standing on a bluff overlooking Cape Cod Bay, a short walk from Katharine and Bill's beautiful home.

On the left is the main building of American Airlines Headquarters, where I work, with one of our planes in its final descent towards DFW Airport, which begins about a mile north of the headquarters campus. Here's a satellite map that shows where the headquarters buildings sit in relation to the airport.

Today is my father's birthday. Born in 1895 (yes), if still living he would be 110 years old today. His name was Howard Monroe Douglas, but he went by the name John all his life--his first born son was named John, after him. John Douglas was born in Indian Territory which became part of the state of Oklahoma in 1907. He died in 1966 and I still miss him. Here's an old photo of him, taken in Oklahoma before I was born.

I haven't posted to this journal since July 2, shortly after I returned from Moscow as part of a large project. titled, "Diverse Cultures/Uncommon Skills: Profiles of Six SPSS Experts." I interviewed and photographed six experts in my field in various cities around the world: Moscow, Russia; Montreal, Quebec, Canada; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Pamplona, Spain; and two cities in the U.S.A.: Providence, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C. SPSS is the statistics and data management application I use in my job at American Airlines.

I took the opportunity today (Saturday) to kick around with my friend, Professor Alan Brown of Southern Methodist University. We've taken classes together in ceramics and in welding (metal sculpture). We went to Gold Metals, our favorite place to treasure hunt for metal in Dallas. I picked up this piece of rusted, etched tungsten that was in a silk-screen frame. I'm going to put it on the wall. Here's a photo of Alan taking a photo of some scrap metal.

I have many ideas for new sections for my website. One idea I'm working on is to photograph my very eclectic and economically diverse neighborhood, within a one-mile radius of my home--wherein can be found everything from mansions to quonset huts. On the left is an image captured on Swiss Avenue, near my home, on a rare snowy day in Dallas, February 2004.

I recently added a new section called "Dreamscapes" (for want of a better title)--just nine images that share qualities that make them dreamy, surreal, ethereal or sensuous.
