| The last time I saw Katharine* was when she was dancing with the Boston Ballet Company during their 1980 world tour. I was their photographer during the China portion of the tour. Katherine and I had a lovely dinner at the airport hotel in Tokyo while in transit to Beijing.
This photograph was taken much earlier. For those discriminating viewers with a good memory for photographs, this portrait was inspired by a much older photograph by Francisco Scavullo (the model was a young girl). These days Katharine is living in Cape Cod and teaching a couple of days a week at her former school. This image was captured on a 35mm Pentax Spotmatic camera. *UPDATE: I saw Katharine again (lovely as ever) in October 2005, when Paula and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary at Katharine and Bill's beautiful home on the Cape. |
