|When I was an advertising photographer in the 1970's and 1980's, I photographed many dancers and gymnasts. During that time, I got to know Paul Ziert (International Gymnast Magazine Online). He introduced me to Bart Conner, the great American gymnast and Olympic gold medal winner.
I suggested that we create a portrait of Bart that was different from the usual high-key, smiling, Mr. Nice Guy approach (not that there's anything wrong with that approach). Here's a photo lifted from a Google image search (the web page no longer exists and the image is unattributed).
The top photograph was taken with a Hasselblad camera with a 150 mm lens.
